The Tennessee Scholars Program at Houston Co. High School is a joint effort of the school, the Houston Co. Chamber of Commerce, and the local business community. To become a Tennessee Scholar students complete a demanding high school curriculum that emphasizes "on level" and above courses in mathematics, science, social studies, language arts (English and foreign language), and computer literacy. The program also stresses the importance of attendance and dependability. In addition to meeting all State Board of Education graduation requirements, Tennessee Scholars must complete the following course requirements and additional exceptional in order to receive this Honor of Distinction:
